Studies, both in the U.S. and international, and recent research
has pointed toward antioxidants contributing to the health of the brain.
Vitamins C and E and beta carotene, along with the B vitamins, may optimise brain and health,
improved mental dexterity from Vitamins C and E, they claim.
Scientists working on federally-funded
research, called the Alzheimer's Disease
Cooperative Study, found that people with
Alzheimer's disease who took large doses of
Vitamin E delayed such outcomes as the loss of
ability to feed or groom themselves.
A large research project in Switzerland has
found that people in their sixties and older who
had the highest blood levels of Vitamin C and
beta carotene did better on tests of memory
than those with lower levels.
Then the BBC reported that children using vitamins were doing better in school
and that antioxidants play roles for improved memory and brain health.
Another study, conducted on Japanese-American
men living in Hawaii, found that both Vitamin E
and Vitamin C seemed to stave off losses in
cognitive functions
Scientists speculate that these vitamins, called
antioxidants, may reduce oxidative stress to
brain cells called neurons.
Such stress occurs when highly volatile forms of
oxygen damage cell structure in the course of
normal chemical reactions that occur throughout
the body. That damage keeps neurons from
functioning as well as possible, according to the
theory.
Your body is exposed to free radicals daily from pollution, poor diet,
tobacco smoke and even normal metabolism. Without an adequate supply of antioxidants,
free radicals cause cellular damage, which can lead to disease and premature aging.
Schizandra Plus combines the natural antioxidant power of schizandra berries, with vitamins C, E beta carotene
and the mineral selenium, to help support and protect good health.
